The Get Ready for Work Employment Programme is delivered by Islington Training Hub in partnership with Islington iWork and the Islington Health and Social Care Academy.

We help Islington residents build skills, gain real-world experience, and transition into entry level roles in GP practices and other health and social organisations. The programme also supports local employers with their recruitment needs.

The programme includes three key components:

1) Pre-employment Training:

Participants receive targeted training to build the skills needed for administrative and reception roles in healthcare settings. Training includes:

• Customer service tailored to healthcare settings

• IT systems used by general practice (including EMIS and DocMan)

• Effective communication and workplace behaviour

2) Face to face learning:

Participants will complete a face-to-face learning by attending teaching session at the Adult Community Learning Centre. The programme is delivered over 8 weeks.

3) Employment Support:

After completing the programme participants will receive:

• A job interview with an Islington-based health and care employer, or

• Ongoing employment support from the iWork team, including job search and application guidance.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

• Understand patient registration processes

• Use GP and care sector IT systems

• Demonstrate values and skills for healthcare administration roles.

Participants will also earn a Level 2 Award in Customer Service.
